Volunteer Opportunities:

Event Host(ess) (Hospitality)
Responsibilities: Welcome community members at library events; distribute program information; orient patrons to the library or event site by pointing out locations of coat closet, restrooms, refreshments, handout table, etc.; be available to answer questions and direct patrons as needed. Monitor library spaces and notify staff as needed if questions arise. Help serve refreshments at special library events.
Skills and Experience: All that is required is a warm, outgoing personality, and a desire to make people comfortable in the library. Events typically take place on weekday late afternoons and evenings. Some weekend events may need volunteers.

Shelving
Responsibilities: Shelve books, DVDs, CDs; organize magazines and newspapers; assist with upkeep/order of shelves.
Skills and Experience: Some customer service experience is preferred. This position requires attention to detail and a love of order/organization. Volunteer must be able to maneuver heavy carts and lift light to medium weights. The ideal volunteer will have a friendly manner and thrive working independently. Knowledge of alphabet required. Dewey Decimal System training provided.

Homebound Delivery (Outreach) Please click here for eligibility requirements.
Responsibilities: Deliver and pick up library items as requested by homebound patrons and assisted living facilities. Work with library staff and patrons to schedule deliveries and pickups.
Skills and Experience: Volunteer must possess valid driver's license and be able to use their own vehicle to make deliveries. The ideal volunteer will exhibit a pleasant, courteous manner, and have a sincere desire to help people who cannot come into the library access and use materials.

Makerspace Monitor
Responsibilities: Media Studio Monitors watch over the studio space while participants utilize the workspace. The monitor will notify library staff of any behavioral issues that need addressing.
Skills and Experience: The monitor will need to have basic to intermediate understanding of computers and computer peripherals but training will be provided for specific duties. The monitor candidate need to be comfortable working with our younger community members.

Makerspace Mentor
Responsibilities: We are looking for local makers, crafts people and techies to share their skills with the community by volunteering to help instruct participants in various creative endeavors. Our space houses materials for sewing, 3d printing, electronics, photography, sound recording, video and animation. If you have skills, we want your help! Come share your expertise with the community.
Skills and Experience: Deep experience with the field you wish to mentor and the ability to passing on skills to others. Instructional experience welcome but not required.
