Library Tour

  • The 235 kW rooftop solar system consists of 470 utility sized panels.
  • The McMillan Memorial Library building was completed in 1970 and has undergone several renovations of its interior since that time.
  • Our Service Desk and Hold Shelf are immediately inside our entrance.
  • Large Print books, paperback books, and audiobooks are housed in our lower level Commons area.
  • Our Coffeehouse will be reopening soon with hot and cold beverages and snacks.
  • Movies, television shows, and documentaries are available on our lower level as well as cd and digital audiobooks.
  • Our Young Adult area is adjacent to our Coffeehouse and features fiction and nonfiction books, graphic novels, digital audiobooks, tabletop and video games.
  • The gallery space on our lower level is adjacent to our All Purpose Room, Fine Arts Center and magazine collection.
  • Our All Purpose Room is available for public meetings and serves as a primary space for library programs.
  • The kitchenette in our All Purpose Room opens directly into the meeting space and can be used for refreshments or cooking demos.
  • The Fine Arts Center seats 249, including five spaces for wheelchairs and is our venue for movies and concerts.
  • Our upper lobby is adjacent to the Adult Room, the Youth Services Room and our Makerspace.
  • Our McCourt Conference Room is located near our business office, which can be reached from our upper lobby.
  • Our Makerspace entrace from our upper lobby leads into the Ideas Lounge.
  • Our Makerspace Ideas Lounge is a place for patrons to plan projects on a giant whiteboard or simply relax.
  • The Makerspace features workspaces, computer design tools, creative equipment and a recording studio.
  • Our Makerspace features a recording studio suitable for recording music or voices.
  • We have a few instruments that you can use in our recording studio or you can bring your own.
  • The main entrance to our Makerspace is opposite our Information Desk.
  • Staff at our Information Desk in our Adult Room can answer questions, help you find a book, or set you up on a computer.
  • Regular and genre fiction, including classics, are just a few steps from our Information Desk.
  • Next to our fiction corner, we have two group study rooms that can hold up to five people.
  • Our training room is adjacent to our skylight lounge and sits between our two groups of study rooms.
  • Our training room can accommodate 16 people around tables and has additional lounge seating along the windows.
  • New fiction and nonfiction at the adult level and music cds are in our skylight lounge.
  • Our refurbished skylight provides daylight and energy-efficient LED lighting to the reading area below.
  • We have three study rooms available that are suitable for one or two people.
  • Our quiet study corner houses our local history and genealogy collections.
  • We have lounge seating and small tables adjacent to our nonfiction collection by our windows with a southern exposure.
  • Our nonfiction book stacks are broken up by seating for study or casual reading.
  • Computer stations in our Adult Room are adjacent to the Information Desk and a public copier/printer.
  • Our Youth Services Desk sits at the entrance to the Youth Services Room.
  • New picture books for children as well as children's games line the walls in our story corner.
  • Our picture book collection is divided into categories for ease of browsing.
  • Our Youth Services Room has fiction, nonfiction, and AV materials for preschool- and elementary-aged children.
  • Two window seats in the Youth Services Room provide places for children to curl up with a good book.
  • Our Youth Services Room features a computer nook with several computers for children or their caregivers.
  • The WoodTrust / Bell Foundation Garden, an extension of the Youth Services Room. It is a Monarch Waystation.

  • The garden features seating constructed by local Boy Scouts.
